HEY THERE

ALL ABOUT ME

I have always had a keen interest in photography, and over the years have taken a range of photographs for my friends and family and our beloved furry friends. As well as taking more modern photographs, I also have a passion for looking through older photographs, including those of my family.

One of my favourite pastimes is to delve into my family history and developing our family tree. It is due to this close family connection; I decided to name my photography business after my later grandfather. My grandad was always at the heart of our family, and I have fond memories of us spending quality time together during my childhood, where we would listen to stories, sing, and play various games with each other.

Since leaving school I have studied and followed a career in childcare and education, where I have worked in a range of settings from nurseries to primary schools. Through this time, I have achieved a BA(Hons) degree in Childcare and Education and Forest School, Level 2. I am very passionate about the outdoors and the benefits this has on children and young people’s wellbeing. Whilst I have enjoyed working within this sector, I have also developed a keep interest in bringing my photography out into the local community, and in 2020, I began working on making this a reality.

Alongside my photography, I am also a keen artist and enjoy drawing, painting and exploring a range of different artistic mediums. I recently attended an art course, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

With nearly twenty years’ experience of working with children of all ages and their families. I believe I have a range of transferable skills which I can bring to my photography sessions. While providing a service for families of all ages, I draw upon my career knowledge to enhance my photography approach and provide a fun and stress-free experience for the whole family.

As well as having a degree in childcare, I also have a NVQ in working with small animals and have owned a range of small animals, including reptiles, rodents, dogs and cats. Furthermore, I have over twenty years of experience with horses, through riding lessons, helping out at the local riding schools and I have had the privilege of owning my own horse. Just like my experience within the childcare sector, I can also bring my knowledge and understanding from animal ownership to my sessions, to help provide a relaxed and calm approach for all.

As I am aware all prospective clients and their beloved furry companions are all unique, and I will always provide some time before the sessions starts to introduce myself to the family and their pets, to help develop a comfortable and calm experience for all those involved.

In 2021 I completed an online photography course, which covered a range of topics, tricks, tips and assignment-based tasks. As I continue to develop my photography journey, I hope to complete a range of other courses to keep my photography continuing professional development (CPD) up to date, including regular first aid training.

Any clients who book a session with Ali Watson Photography will receive a welcome email, providing them with more information for the upcoming session, and give you the opportunity to ask any further questions you may have, to ensure that the session runs smoothly.

I have recently joined the local photography society, where we meet up weekly for informative presentations, enter regular competitions and attend photography trips.

I have a current and up-to-date DBS check, and I am Paediatric First Aid Trained.

I am very much looking forward to meeting out protentional clients and am happy to discuss a range of possible photography options available. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
